I am in love with the Kenyan Gethumbwini! This is one of the beans we cupped at F&S on Saturday, I grabbed a bag to bring home. The label says they were roasted on the 14th. I think Hazel said it’s roasted more for syphon/plunger/drip, and it made a mighty nice syphon brew yesterday morning - lots of fleshy, juicy fruit notes.

I just pulled a shot of it though, and I like! Lots of grapefruit, and I could imagine it’s not to everybody’s taste. But it is to mine! Mmmm.

Yeah totally, I love this bean too. I ran it through the syphon last night too, getting those grapefruit notes that I got in the cupping. I think it was that one that I thought what to me tasted like apple&black current kinda-Ribena -esque thing going on, more when it was hotter, I think…. or was that…..? That’s why I’m no cupper hahaha.

It was a great day at Flint & Steel, and awesome that you and Drew could come around afterwards and chat it out. Sorry I had no food to offer. And I only realised after you had left that I didn’t even offer you guys a coffee!!!!! haha, after all that! Oh well, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of oppo’s in the future!

Hmm, just had another shot (lovin’ the aasca demitasse) that was lots of grapefruit and a crisp apple-ish acidity. Noice!

Piccolo long black is a bit less of a slap in the face, nice grapefruit, yeah, a bit of blackcurrant on the soft palate, and maybe I’ve lost the plot cuz’ I can taste a bit of something like sweet slow-roasted garlic. There’s also a pleasant sweet and rich aftertaste. Really interesting and a little complex, I think I’ll find something new every time I drink it! Definitely a winner.

Hehe, I didn’t drink any more coffee on Saturday - stuck to my Rooibos and some Hot Chocolate.
